Feature of Research
We conduct research and development in the field of chemistry related to energy. Our laboratory is involved in a wide range of experimental work, from material synthesis and evaluation to the design and assembly of experimental apparatus. We use a variety of evaluation and analysis instruments, including thermal analysis, gas adsorption/desorption measurement, electrochemical measurement, structural analysis (SEM-EDX, XRD, Raman microscopy), surface analysis (GD-OES), and gas analysis (GC, mass spectrometry).
Outline of Research
Research and development of various technologies related to achieving carbon neutrality are progressing around the world. In particular, the importance of energy conversion and storage technologies that enable the effective utilization of unstable energy obtained from renewable energy sources is increasing. Our laboratory is engaged in the development of materials related to the use of electrical energy for material conversion and the production of energy media. As specific research themes, we are developing large-scale direct carbon dioxide electrolysis cells that cannot be realized with conventional technologies, metal-hydrogen separation membranes for the production of ultra-high-purity hydrogen for fuel cells, and storage materials for ammonia as an energy medium and carrier.
