Feature of Research

We aim to create next-generation environmental and energy technologies that will open up the future of humanity and to implement them in society. Our research includes the development of solid CO2 absorbents, solid electrolytes for solid-state batteries, and thermoelectrochemical power generation to convert waste heat into electricity using liquids. Specifically, we are developing covalent organic frameworks (COFs), which are an emerging class of crystalline porous materials, to create solid CO2 absorbents and solid electrolytes for batteries with superior performances. We are also developing metal complexes that have high performance in thermoelectrochemical power generation. Our mission is to develop the next generation of talent through pioneering research into unexplored frontiers, while providing society with solutions that can contribute to mitigating climate change and achieving decarbonization.

Outline of Research

We are working on the following research themes.

  • Development of a new generation of solid CO2 absorbent that achieves extremely low thermal energy consumption and the pursuit of social implementation
  • Development of a new generation of solid electrolyte that achieves ultra-high ionic conductivity (next-generation all-solid-state batteries)
  • Development of power generation technology from unused heat and pursuit of social implementation (flow thermoelectric power generation, thermocells)
  • Development of innovative membrane materials for environmental applications that filter and sort molecules by size
